The Light and the Glory

I have been reading the Light and the Glory series by David Manuel and Peter Marshall. The book is about the founding of America from a Christian standpoint. Throughout the book, they trace God's hand in the making of our country. Starting with Christopher Columbus through to the beginning of the Civil War, things happened that could only be done by God. Take the first and second Great Awakening, He used one person, willing to do God's will to start a huge revival that spread throughout the nation. There are also some questions raised in the book: Why didn't Christopher Columbus discover the main land of America? Why was the Separatist plantation in Jamestown such a failure? Why is it that America was discovered so late in history? Could it be that God had a plan for America? America has been an example of how a nation can stand and not fall when it is built on Godly principles, with God being the preeminent authority. America was God's new Israel. God had preserved New England for the Pilgrims to settle, the Pilgrims were dedicated Christians. The Separatist's plantation did not have God as their authority, therefore God wiped them out. How can we, who are dedicated Christians, let our country fail? All God needs is one person, willing to do God's will and He can start a third Great Awakening. God bless you, and God bless America.
